Team Relay Terms and Conditions
PARTICIPATION
- Your team will be of 4 runners, you cannot use more or less, nobody can do more than one stage.
- Your team can be of mixed sexes and the composition is up to you. There can also be full Ladies or Men's teams.
- There will be several prize categories within the relay such as: the Corporate Challenge, Female Team Challenge, Male Team Challenge, Mixed Team Challenge, Fancy Dress Team Challenge, University Team Challenge, Young Guns and Auld Reekies.
- Young guns must have a combined age of less than or equal to 100 years, Auld Reekie teams must have a combined age of greater than or equal to 180 years. We do not count fractions of a year e.g. four runners aged 25 years and 11 months are eligible of the young guns challenge.
- Each Relay Team will be issued with one timing device. It is a small plastic disk that MUST be attached to the running shoe or ankle via the velcro strap provided. The previous leg runner is responsible for passing it to the next leg runner at the change over. We will record team numbers at each changeover point in case of appeals, so please ensure that your team completes the course fairly and on foot.
- It is essential that runners change over at the designated points.
- Transport will be available to take runners from the start and finish area to their changeover points, if they wish to make their own way they should allow plenty of time.
- The team captain will be required to complete and submit runners details via the My Details section of the website. This is for safety reasons so that in the event of an athlete being taken ill on route our First Aid staff will know who is wearing the number.
- The referee's decision on any appeal will be final.
- Runners will be required to wear numbers on front and 'Relay' labels on the back of vests so that full marathon runners are aware of who is in the full race and who is in the Relay.
- The minimum age for runners is 17 on race day. Runners aged between 15 and 17 are eligible but must run legs which are less than 10km. The age criteria are set to comply with Scottish Athletics and UK Athletics rules for race organisers. These are put in place for the safety of younger runners.
- Please be considerate at all times to other runners and follow instructions given by the police or route marshals.
- Please also take notice and read the final instructions that you will receive with your race numbers.
Rules of Engagement
- The relay is split into 4 legs splitting the marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Each leg is not the same length.
- The team line-up can be decided on the team declaration form. This is registered with us prior to the race to allow for any last-minute changes. The team declaration form will state which runner is running which leg.
- Each team member must pass on the timing device to the outgoing runner. The timing device must be worn around the ankle. Incoming runners will be spotted by a marshal and their race number will be announced to the waiting team members. Outgoing runners will be grouped in pens according to their race number. These pens should be clearly signposted.
- Any team member who has to pull out during the race should make sure they inform a marshal with a radio so that their team mates can be informed.
Finally good luck, enjoy your training and raise lots of money for your chosen charity.
