Becoming an Affiliate Charity

As the Edinburgh Marathon Festival has continued to establish itself as part of Scotland’s premier sporting and fundraising events calendar so the benefits to charities associated with the event have improved. The post-race economic impact study conducted after the 2010 event shows over £3 million was raised for charity. Over 30,000 runners are expected to enter the 2011 Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

The Edinburgh Marathon has been resurrected to provide Scotland’s capital with an annual athletics event of the same calibre as the host of international festivals that the city is so famous for. The aim is to create a world class event that provides runners with an exceptional personal challenge whilst also providing a platform for Scottish and UK charities to raise vital funds though sponsorship.

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival has forged strong links with a great variety of Scottish and UK charities. Currently over 200 charities benefit from the event.  To become a participating charity you need to secure some GSi Credits. These are allocated by the marathon office and allocated on a first come first serve basis.
