  • Marathon and Relay Entry Field
    We are expecting over 20,000 entrants in the 2010 Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

     
  • Entry Categories and Prices
    Entries open on 1st September 2009 and are on a first come, first served basis until we reach our entry capacity - we reached entry capacity on 19th December 2008 for the 2009 marathon. Click here to get information about Entry Categories and Prices.

  • Course profile
    The Edinburgh Marathon was rated the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World magazine. The course has an overall elevation drop of 40m which should make it a good course for those looking for a good time or a personal best.

     
  • Water and Fuel Stations
    Strathmore Water 250ml and Lucozade Sport Orange 250ml Sports Cap Energy Drinks will be served on the course. No gels will be served on route. Click here for more info.
  • Baggage
    Full marathon runners will be able to store baggage on trucks located at the start. This will be transported to the finish and available for pick up at Musselburgh Racecourse as shown on the map of the venue.
  • Transport
    We offer a shuttle bus service for runners back to the city center after the race and a Bus Service for Relay Teams. Please find further information about transport and parking on our website.
  • Accommodation

  • Weather conditions
    May/June are probably the best months to run a marathon in Edinburgh.  The wind is soft and the average maximum temperature on Race Day is around 17 degrees. Visit BBC Weather online for up to date weather.
  • ChampionChip
    Timings for all runners will be recorded using the ChampionChip system, read more.

  • In the interest of safety
    The Race Director and the Emergency Services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary.  These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
