EMF Half Marathon

 You can STILL enter the Half Marathon with a charity place and run for a cause you care about. Standard places are now full.

Date: Sunday 25 May 2014.

Start Time: 8.00am at London Road & at Regent Road, Edinburgh.  Your race instructions will tell you which location to start from.

Price: There are various entry options, please click here to be taken to them. Entries may close early if the race reaches entry capacity. 

Route: Flat & Fast. The EMF Half course follows the Edinburgh Marathon route which was voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World in 2008. Great if it's your first half marathon or if you are looking for a PB!  Runners must be a minimum of 17 years on race day to enter. Please note that the route may be subject to change. The EMF Half Marathon is a road race over a measured distance of 13.1 miles. It is delivered under permit from Scottish Athletics. The race will be refereed under the rules of Scottish Athletics.

Event Chip Timing: Timings for all races will be recorded using a chip timing system - your timing chip will be embedded into your running number.

Your Result Information: All your personal data and information, including your running times, are treated with great respect. As such your result information is exclusively available to you within your My Details account after you have completed the race. We will only openly publish the top 10 finishers of each race. You will need to log in to get your times, splits and finishing position within the race. You can then choose to share this information as you see fit. They are your results and times.

Course Time Limit: The EMF Half Marathon will operate a strict maximum cut off time of 3 hours 15 minutes for all participants. The Half Marathon is a serious athletics endurance race which requires a large amount of appropriate training and preparation in order to complete it safely. Therefore we strongly discourage participants who do not intend to complete the course within this time limit. Any runner who does not complete the course in 3 hours 15 minutes will not be permitted to complete the race and will not receive a result. A sweeper bus follows the race at 3 hour 15 minute pace and if you are passed by the sweep bus at any point and for any reason, you will be asked to get onto the bus which will transport you back to the Finish area at the earliest possible opportunity. If you decide not to get onto the sweep bus, your running number is recorded and you are removed from the race, from this point onwards you will be continuing independently of the event and at your own risk, the police will begin the process of re-opening the roads to live traffic from this point onwards. You will be recorded as a DNF within the results of the event. 

Baggage: Runners will be able to drop their baggage off at the baggage trucks at the start area and these will be transported to the finish area for you to pick up after you have finished your race.

Hydration Stations: Hydration Stations will be positioned approximately 5kms apart. Bottles of Strathmore Water and High5 energy gels will be available. Toilets will be available at all hydration stations. Click here for more information.

Accommodation: The half marathon takes place over a Spring Bank Holiday weekend. If you are looking to book accommodation in Edinburgh for the weekend of the event please visit the accommodation section of the website for more information. We recommend booking in advance to avoid any disappointment. And don't just take our word for it! Weather Conditions: May/June are probably the best months to run a half marathon in Edinburgh.  The wind is gentle and the average maximum temperature on Race Day is around 17 degrees. Visit BBC Weather online for up to date weather.

In the Interest of Safety: The Race Director and the Emergency Services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
