Running for charity, or put off by the hassle of fundraising? There's a simple and smart solution: a FREE sponsorship page on the Internet! It's easy and takes just a minute at:
The Edinburgh Marathon has teamed up with award-winning charity donation service Justgiving to let every runner collect donations securely online.
You do not have to be a Web wizard to fundraise online: setting up a sponsorship page is easy and takes a minute. Then your friends, family and colleagues can visit it and make a donation or pledge with a credit or debit card.
Your sponsorship page is much more flexible than the usual dog-eared sponsorship forms: you can monitor your total at any time, update your page with your latest training news and receive donations from anywhere in the world.
Edinburgh Marathon runner Cath Ferguson said: "Just Giving has been a brilliant way to contact people and let them know about our marathon. It allowed us to contact friends, relatives and ex-colleagues we don't often see by e-mail, and allowed them to sponsor us over the Internet.
"The web page is a great way of explaining to people who we don't often see about the cause we were running for and our reason for running, which may be difficult to talk about face to face sometimes. The response from people - some of whom I would never have contacted without the JustGiving page - has been fantastic.”
Unlike traditional pledges, online donations are banked immediately, and an extra 28% in reclaimed Gift Aid tax is automatically added to every donation made by UK taxpayers at no cost or effort to you or your sponsors. Charities can register now by calling 08000 286183.
A unique memorable web address - such as www.justgiving.com/yourname - is a great for fundraising.
Forget the hassle of cash and cheques: email everyone in your address book and collect donations securely online.
