Q. We bought a team relay shuttle bus ticket but we don’t have a bus logo on our race number.
A. This is not a problem. The e-ticket sent by e-mail to you is the ticket you should use. You don’t need a bus logo on your race number (Please ignore the information in the box in final details pack)
Q. When can I add runners to my team?
If you are already registered as a team captain you can now add your team members' details. Log in to your account and click on 'Upcoming Events'
Q. Can I still buy spectator tickets?
A. All spectator and team relay tickets are now sold out. Please check our shop to see tickets availability.
Q. When will I get my race number & race instructions?
A. All UK runners will receive their race pack (running number, timing device and final competitor instructions) by Friday 14th May 2010. You can view your race number and a pdf copy of your race instructions by visiting your account at My Details.
All overseas runners must collect their race pack at the EMF Hub in the City Centre on Saturday 21st May
Q. What race number have I been allocated?
A. You can view what number you have been allocated by visiting the My Details section of the website. Your race number and race number colour are specific to your timing pen - you can not change these.
Q. What time does the race start?
A. The EMF Half starts from 08:00am from London Road - please see your final details for more information.
The Edinburgh Marathon has a split start. Runners on London Road will start from 9:50am. Runners on Regent Road will start from 10:00am. Your race number will clearly state your start location. Your time is timed using a timing chip which starts after you cross the start line.
The Team Relay starts at 10:00am from Regent Road.
Q. Where and when does the relay take place?
A. The team relay is run at the same time as the Edinburgh Marathon and on the same route.
Q. How many members per team?
A. The team relay consists of four runners.
Q. How does the ChampionChip work?
A. The first leg runner will wear the ChampionChip around their ankle (with the velcro strap provided). Once they cross the start line the team time will begin. The ChampionChip must be passed to each team member at the changeover points and this MUST be worn around the ankle. Their will be a timing mat at each changeover point. As soon as one leg finishes the time for the next leg starts.
Q. How is my leg time measured?
A. The finish time for a leg is the start time for the next leg.
Their will be ONE timing mat at each changeover point. After the incoming runner crosses the timing mat their leg time will stop. The outgoing runner leg time starts when the incoming runner crosses the timing mat.
Q. How much do I have to raise for charity?
A. The fundraising can be shared between the four runners. If you got your place from the Charity (Charity Assured Place) then each charity sets its own fundraising target. It is the responsibility of the team captain to give the fundraising money to the charity. If you paid for your own place then you can raise as much or as little as you like.
Q. What can I do if one or more of my team have to pull out before the event?
A. First of all you can try to get other friends or relatives to take their place. You can also check out our page 'Help Find Members'
Q. How do I get back to the finish after I have completed my leg?
If you have signed up to the Relay Bus it will bring you back to the marathon finish in Musselburgh after you finish your leg. The Relay Bus ticket (£20 per team) will also get you a place on the shuttle bus from Musselburgh back to the city centre after your last leg runner finishes. The Relay Bus must be booked before in advance as the tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. See Relay Bus
Q. How will the changeover area's work?
A. Incoming runners will be spotted by a marshal and their race number will be announced over a loud speaker to the waiting team member. You must remove your ChampionChip and pass it to your outgoing team member. The ChampionChip must be worn around your ankle with the Velcro strap provided. Outgoing runners will be grouped in pens according to their race number. These pens will be clearly signposted. Once you have changed your ChampionChip with the outgoing runner they are free to head out.
Q. Do all members have to agree to the disclaimer?
A. All members of the team in the Team Relay are bound by the disclaimer. By stepping on to the course and taking part in the event ALL team members are agreeing to the disclaimer.
Q. Where will we collect our t-shirts, medals and goody bags?
A. The final leg runners will collect four medals, four goody bags and four t-shirts after the race crew have removed their ChampionChip at the finish of the race.
Q. What age must I be to run the Hairy Haggis Team Relay?
A. The minimum age for runners is 17 on race day. Runners aged between 15 and 17 are eligible but must run legs 2 or 4 which are less than 10km. The age criteria are set to comply with Scottish Athletics and UK Athletics rules for race organisers. These are put in place for the safety of younger runners.
Q. Does the race include a wheelchair race?
A. This event does not incorporate a wheelchair race for athletes with a disability. This is due to restrictions on the current route that would require extensive alterations in order to facilitate safe use by wheelchair athletes. We are currently looking at the viability of a Half Marathon Wheelchair Race over the Scottish Half Marathon route on May 23rd 2010 and should you wish to note your interest in taking part in this wheelchair race please contact sandra@gsi-events.com We will contact you as soon as entries open for this race.
