The minimum age for runners is 17 on race day. Runners aged between 15 and 17 are eligible but must run legs 2 or 4 which are less than 10km. The age criteria are set to comply with Scottish Athletics and UK Athletics rules for race organisers. These are put in place for the safety of younger runners.
'Young Guns' must have a combined age of less than or equal to 100 years, 'Auld Reekie' teams must have a combined age of greater than or equal to 180 years. We do not count fractions of a year e.g. four runners aged 25 years and 11 months on race day are eligible for the young guns challenge.
